HALOU
HALOU is the project of husband/wife duo Rebecca and Ryan Coseboom, who began releasing tracks from their bedroom in the suburbs of San Francisco in 1997. Halou quickly gained attention from labels and radio and released their first album, WE ONLY LOVE YOU, in 1998.
Halou then signed to “major indie” label, Nettwerk, for their second album, WISER. The album gained the band a cult following partly due to the backing of influential outlets like KEXP and KCRW who spread the word, helping the band secure slots at major festivals, receive considerable acclaim from influential press outlets, and build a devoted fanbase.
Their third album, an evolution of the lush, cinematic sound of Wiser, WHOLENESS AND SEPARATION was released in 2006, buffeted by performances at festivals like SXSW and Bumbershoot.
Their fourth album, simply titled HALOU, and featuring Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie, was previewed during a US tour with indie icon, Bob Mould, and showcased a more guitar-oriented sound than their previous releases.
From 2004-2017 the band took a hiatus.
The WELCOME STRANGER EP was released in April of 2021.
